New Backstage Award Given

The Jack Peek Memorial Backstage/Technical Award was presented to Jody Thorla,    South Bend Civic Theatre's stage manager. Ordinarily this award is conferred on the group that is best organized, disciplined, courteous, and understands Festival rules.  In bestowing this award Dotti Peek said she wanted to be different this year, since this young man went above and beyond is helping everyone with information about the theatre, constantly carrying messages to the company on deck, and always being in touch with the house manager to assure the adjudicators and audiences were in place.

Jack served backstage for many, many Festivals, and passed away last August.  He was missed by lots of people who were always greeted by him and Keith Matters.  Dotti always helped, but has now taken Jack’s role.

Dear ICTL Members,

We have some very exciting news from the Indiana Community Theatre League! Two great events that you're going to be sure and want to mark on your calendar:

First, we are pleased to announce the dates for the 2008 State Festival!!!

This year's festival, "Sharing the Spotlight", will be held on March 14, 15 & 16, 2008 at South Bend Civic Theatre.

Rooms will be $110 at the Holiday Inn, just 3 blocks from SBCT's AMAZING new facility in downtown South Bend.

Registration Forms will be available soon and the registration deadline will be February 15th with the Technical Meeting set for 11:00am on February 17th in South Bend.

South Bend hosted the September ICTL Board Meeting to iron out all the details of the festival and the entire board was blown away by the phenomenal facility, technical capacity and hospitality with which we were greeted. We know that everyone is going to have a great experience at this years festival, so start making your plans now!

Also, we are thrilled to announce a brand new program being offered to any staff member of any Indiana Community Theatre. We hope you will join us for:

An Indiana State Community Theatre Director's & Manager's Conference & Round Table

December 16th, 10:00am-1:00pm hosted by Indianapolis Civic Theatre

Registration Fee: $20 for members / $25 for non-members & includes a ticket to Indy Civic's 2:00 matinee of JOSEPH & THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT!

Modeled after the American Association of Community Theatre's Full Time Director's Conference held every two years in Madison, this event is an opportunity for you to share your experience and learn form the experience of others who face the same challenges and rewards as you and your staff in producing community theatre in Indiana.

Topics of discussion will be developed from a questionnaire which will be distributed to registered attendees in the weeks prior to the conference. Topics will likely include things like: Season Show Selection, Board of Directors Issues, Fundraising, Staffing, Volunteer Recruitment & Retention, Marketing & Advertising and more!
This informal and fun format lends itself to great communication among peers and always results in an invaluable sharing of knowledge and resources among colleagues.

We hope to announce a guest moderator from within the region very soon.

Don't miss this first-ever meeting of the minds and find out how everybody is doing what you're doing.

To register, This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it and let us know you're interested and we will contact you for individual registration.

We hope everybody's seasons are starting (or continuing) well! Drop us a note and let us know what and how you are doing, and be sure to make plans for these two great opportunities made available to you as part of your membership in ICTL!
